Job Description:

Long established English tuition centre in Kowloon Bay (currently in 10th year) needs to replace their 'senior' tutor as she is leaving to have a baby at the end of June. You must be experienced, a true NET, and energetic enough to join a young team of tutors (4 strong).

Current tutoring hours are around 25 per week. with an additional 4-5 hrs. admin/lesson prep.  All materials/lesson plans are available, simply require compiling for lessons.

Days of work are Tues-Sat incl. with Sun and Mon off. Centre operating hours are 09.00 to 19.00. Lessons will fall within those hours but of course there are gaps and you are not tied to the centre when there are no lessons.

The lessons are all fixed and repeat weekly with the same students. Calendar/diary is managed for you, as is liaison with parents. There is no 'on site' manager this is done remotely; however, we do visit weekly to carry out various checks and tasks. We are a British and local management team. You will have keys to the centre and be expected to operate professionally and responsibly.

This is a 'self employed position and we do not provide working visas, so you need to have this already sorted. We pay on a 50/50 split basis, (whatever a class generates is divided equally between tutor and centre). The tutor payment for this vacancy is currently in excess of $22K HK per month for around 30 hrs. per week (including admin) but varies slightly within a 4/5 week month etc. so can be more. Typically, a class (1, 2, or 3 students) will on average generate 1,000 HK per month (4/5 lessons per month) for the tutor. Classes are 60 minutes long.

This is a great opportunity to take control of your income. If you can attract referrals (if you're good enough) . . . work more hours, or indeed include Monday into your schedule – you'll earn much more of course.

The centre closes on ALL public holidays and no holiday payments are made to tutors, as no income is generated during their absence.

There will be a scheduled week (last one in June) for handover/introduction to your students by the current tutor, including some induction into our software and other responsibilities. Please bare this in mind when applying as this period is 'fixed', so if you're not likely to be available, please don't apply.
