We have a new facility in Hong Kong dedicated to manufacturing and testing miniature motors and mechanisms. One of our competitive advantages comes from our focus on process, repeatability and testing. We use internally engineered equipment and tools to support manufacturing, testing and instrumentation.

We are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic Electronics Engineer to join us in Hong Kong to support our manufacturing operations and product engineering teams.

With flexi-time, based on a 9am-6pm day with +/-1 hour, you decide your daily routine between 8am-10am ~ 5pm-7pm to best suit yourself and your work.

Job Requirements / Responsibilities:

What we do and what you will be doing at PMD..
Once we have a product design acceptance by the customer, or sourced into our product range, we must establish robust manufacturing steps and testing to verify goods are made to exacting standards. 

Your role will be to bridge this gap between design and manufacturing with our systems, equipment and processes. You will be working on the improvement, design and implementation; supporting use of our testing and manufacturing equipment with trials, work instructions and training as well as root-causing electronics and software issues as they arise.

Examples of system we currently have and under development:
  • UV curing station for production curing of UV adhesive, with semi-automatic dispensing station
  • Serialised product testing and labeling equipment; to tie test data to serialised units for special reporting requirements
  • Miniature torque dynamometer for high accuracy speed / torque measurements
Your typical day may include:
  • Design & build of PCBA and firmware updates for machine upgrades, calibration and maintenance
  • Developing processes and Work Instructions; training engineers and technicians directly for trials and risk mitigation
  • Design and prototype PCBAs for customer-specific motor drivers, encoders and other product-related engineering
  • Project planning and managing work against internal deliverables and objectives
  • Support, troubleshooting and repair for equipment failures and errors
What we're looking for..
This role requires a versatile engineer with a well-rounded skill set ; strong hardware / firmware, and software electronics expertise as well as fundamental electro-mechanical / mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing background. We do, however, have a good foundation library of existing equipment and reference designs from which to begin.

We are looking for a confident team player who is looking to proactively help others with new tools, procedures and automation to achieve our on-time, to spec goals.

For your qualifications, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following;
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline (2:1 or 1st preferred)
  • Relevant industrial experience in working within tightly controlled manufacturing settings such as medical, automotive or aerospace will be an advantage; eg. ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO/TS 16949
  • Strong, demonstrable team
  • Proficiency in C++, embedded and/or application development (including software testing)
  • Fluent in English is essential to work alongside our engineers in HK and overseas
  • Exposure to the following technologies would help support your application:
    • Atmel AVR 8-bit / 32-bit MCU
    • Qt Application / UI Framework
    • EAGLE PCB layout, or similar
  • Exposure and familiarity with Arduino
  • Practical hands-on experience with soldering; prototype, build and troubleshooting electronics hardware
  • Hong Kong citizen/resident or other immigration status with no restrictions for work in HK preferred, but visa sponsorship may be considered on merit
